This delicious Italian Unwich has the perfect peppery zest that you would expect in a classic Italian sub. But this is no ordinary sandwich. Made with pepperoncini peppers and fresh salami, this wrap just hits the spot without the added carbs. This Italian unwich is great if you are gluten-free or just wanting a slimmed down version of an Italian sub without sacrificing that flavor you love!

What is an unwich?
An unwich is basically a name for a wrap that has all the components of a sub or sandwich but made without the bread. An “Anti-sandwich” if you will. The name “unwich” has been made popular by Jimmy John’s shops as it is a popular item on their menu for those seeking a lower carb option.
Today, we’re going to make our own copycat version of the Vito Italian unwich. I went through a phase where I could not get enough of this unwich. It’s so delicious and you’ll find it’s extremely easy to make at home. It also packs well for school or work.
Ingredients:
- Sliced Salami
- Sliced Turkey
- Romaine lettuce
- Sliced Provolone cheese (You can omit this if you want this to be W30)
- Sliced Pepperoncini peppers
- Thinly sliced red onion
- Italian vinaigrette (I love this one for its clean ingredients)
- Italian seasoning
Assembling your Italian Unwich
- Take a square of parchment paper and place four large romaine leaves in the middle, overlapping the leaves.
- Fill the leaves with four slices of turkey and four slices of salami and 2 slices of provolone cheese or until the lettuce is evenly covered.
- Layer the pepperoncini and onion evenly over the top of the deli meat and cheese.
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, and vinaigrette.
- Carefully fold in the ends of the parchment paper and roll the paper over the contents of the unwich as if you were folding a large burrito.
- Using a sharp knife, cut through the middle of the paper and unwich.
- Serve with a pickle and enjoy!
