Angela from Cooking on Sunshine
Welcome to my little kitchen! I’m Angela from Cooking on Sunshine. Creating in the kitchen is my happy place and so let’s make real food, beautiful and simple. Follow along with me as I share food inspiration, meal ideas and life uncomplicated.
My husband, Brian and I enjoy our life here in Idaho with our 3 small children. We have been incorporating a little homesteading flavor into our home here in the suburbs. You don’t have to live on a ton of land to still enjoy a bountiful vegetable garden and simple healthy meals. I have always been interested in eating simple and fresh and that of course translates into my cooking. Whether it’s expanding our little backyard garden, learning to ferment and preserve or just making meals a bit healthier, I strive to inspire others!
I was born in Catania, Sicily on the side of Mt. Etna. As a Navy brat, my mom, dad, and sister lived around the world and US. I believe living overseas sparked my love for all types of foods and is probably the reason I am a very adventurous eater today. I’m notorious for recreating dishes at home and adding my own spin to them. My hobbies include thrifting, decorating, and trying out viral recipes! I also enjoy a great workout and setting a healthy example for my kids.
Fun Facts about me:
I was a cheerleader in high school and enjoyed every minute of it. It truly set the stage for learning to be disciplined in many areas of my life.
I went to cosmetology school, graduated, and realized it was not for me!
My very first job was teaching art classes at a private Christian school when I was 19 years old.
I worked as Program director for a local agency for kids and adults with disabilities for 11 years before deciding to become a full time stay at home mom in 2018.
I love making things from “nothing” and if I can make something instead of going out and buying it, I will! Everything from my own hand soap, natural immune boosting remedies and handmade gifts from the kitchen. It’s a satisfying feeling to know I can make many store-bought, often expensive convenience item at home. And if I can avoid all those junky filler ingredients, then SCORE!
So with that, follow along here and let’s start Cooking on Sunshine!
