Breakfast of Champions
I feel like steel cut oats is like the underdog of breakfast. I really actually prefer it’s heartier, nuttier texture and flavor to regular oats. What’s the difference between regular and steel cut oats, you ask? Steel cut oats are the least processed of all the oats. The hulled oats are chopped with a steel blade, leaving most of all the parts of the oat intact.
Health Benefits
Steel cut oats are packed with fiber making them great for promoting proper digestion. Just 1/4 cup has 15% of your daily fiber. 1/2 cup has 10 grams of protein so if you are trying to focus on upping your protein and fiber intake, this is a great way to start the day! Protecting your heart and regulating your blood sugar are also some benefits of this yummy breakfast. And that’s just plain, let’s add some other wholesome ingredients to make these apple pie steel cut oats!
Ingredients for Apple Pie Steel Cut Oats:
- 1/2 cup steel cut oats (I get organic whenever I can to avoid the sprays they use on grains)

- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tbs pure maple syrup
