Use up leftover Apple Pie Filling
This little treat is a great way to use up your leftover apple pie filling. If you’re like me, you may overestimate how much apple pie filling to make when making a pie. Pie season is upon us and I’ve already made a few apple pies and every single time, I make too much pie filling. It’s ok though because this is how I tend to use it up! Enter apple pie crispitos. Yum!
Even if you aren’t making a pie per se, you can still make these little crispitos. You can also make this even easier by using premade apple pie filling. We’ve picked a lot of apples at our local orchard so I’ve just been making my own. Here’s what you need to make them:
Ingredients:
- 4 granny smith apples
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbs Flour
- 1 Tbs corn starch
- 1 Tbs lemon juice
- 1 Tbs Pie Spice
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 8-10 flour tortillas
- Avocado oil (for spraying)
- 1tsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon for garnish

Directions:
- Peel and thinly slice apples
- In a large bowl, combine apples, sugars, flour, cornstarch, lemon juice, spices and salt.
- Let set for about 5 minutes to thicken.
- Fill each tortilla with about 2 Tbs of the apple filling and roll tightly.
- Place all the rolled tortillas onto a large plate and lightly brush or spray with avocado oil. (Why avocado oil? You can use vegetable oil but I really prefer avocado oil because it is a cleaner alternative to highly processed oils. I really like this brand and you can sub it for any recipe that calls for vegetable oil.) *Note: I like to use avocado oil in my Misto oil sprayer. It’s so convenient and I can control the ingredients that go into my spray.)
- Place your rolled tortillas into your air fryer basket, making sure to leave enough room in between for circulation. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you should be able to fit about 4 at a time. I have had this air fryer for about 4 years now and I love it!
- Air Fry at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until desired crispiness.
- Carefully remove from air fryer with tongs and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Allow to cool and enjoy!

If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake these on a lined baking sheet in the oven at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
These apple pie crispitos make a great holiday appetizer. I like to cut them in half or in fourths and serve them up with a caramel dip! So simple and so good!
